The Importance of Knowledge & Abomination of Greed.

Sayyidina Abu Darda (R.A) (expressing a doubt) once said, "I perceive that knowledge shall soon vanish because the ulema are leaving this world and people show very little interest towards knowledge. Acquire knowledge before it disappears with the men of knowledge. I see that you people have become greedy for that thing which Allah has assumed responsibility for (sustenance). You have become negligent of that which you are responsible for (acquiring knowledge & practicing thereupon)."

Month of Sha'ban

About the Month of Sha'ban -"Sha'ban" is the 8th month in the Islamic Calendar. The meaning of Sha'ban is "consecutively escalating (Undisturbed increase).

Upon the Arrival of the Sha'ban moon: - Beginning of innumerous blessings are showered upon us. Just as the initiation of rainfall begins with "pitter patter" such blessings reach us in the same accord and fashion.

Beginning of Sha'ban:- Blessings are initiated which progressively escalate so that by mid-Sha'ban the blessings have reached a considerable amount and finally such blessings reached a considerable amount and finally such blessings reach their peak by the end of Ramadan.

Example supporting the above stated:- Just as a farmer prepares for a fruitful harvest by cultivatingso that the soil may readily retain water, in contrast our souls are geared by the presence of such blessings in Sha'ban effectively preparing us for a fruitful and completely advantageous Ramadan.
Our Holy Rasulullah (S.AW.W) has said, "Sha'ban is my month and Ramadan the month of Allah Ta'aalaa." (Daylami)

Events of Sha'ban:-

1) "Laila-tul Baraa'at (Night of forgiveness) the fifteenth night of Sha'ban.
2) "Qibla", the direction to be adopted within salah, was reverted back to the "Ka'aba" in Makka (after being converted to Baitul Muqaddas in Jerusalem for a short period of time). This took place two years after Hijraah on the 15th of Sha'ban.
3) Fasting in the blessed month of Ramadan was made compulsory two years A.H. on the 25th of Sha'ban
4) Three years A.H. Hadhrat Hafsa (R.A) was joined in matrimony with the Rasulullah (S.AW.W) .
5) In this very month forty two years later Hadhrat Hafsa(R.A) took leave from this world.
6) The birth of the Rasulullah's (S.A.W.W) grandson Hadhrat Hussain (R.A) took place, four years on the fifth of Sha'ban
7) The battle of Banu Mustaliq took place in Sha'ban
8) During the above mentioned battle, the "Aayah of Tayammum" (Purifying with sand before salah) was revealed, five years A.H.
9) The daughter of the beloved Rasulullah (S.AW.W) Umme Kulthum (R.A) took leave from this world, nine years A.H.

Boy with the Answers

There was once a man who was an enemy to Islam. He had three famous questions that no person could answer. No Islamic scholar in Baghdad could answer his three questions...thus he made fun of Islam in public. He constantly ridiculed Islam and the Muslims. One day a small boy, who`s age was 10, came along and heard the man yelling and screaming at Muslims in the street. He was challenging people openly to answer the three questions.

The boy stood quietly and watched. He then decided that he would challenge the man. He walked up and told the man, "I will accept your challenge".

The man laughed at the boy and ridiculed the Muslims even more by saying, "A ten year old boy challenges me. Is this all you people have to offer!"

But the boy patiently reiterated his stance. He would challenge the man, and with Allah`s help and guidance, he would put this to an end. The man finally accepted.

The entire city gathered around a small "hill" where open addresses were usually made. The man climbed to the top, and in a loud voice asked his first question.

"What is your God doing right now?"

The small boy thought for a little while and then told the man to climb down the hill and to allow him to go up in order to address the question.

The man says "What? You want me to come down?"

The boy says, "Yes. I need to reply, right?"

The man made his way down and the small boy, age 10, with his little feet made his way up.

This small child`s reply was "Oh Allah Almighty! You be my witness in front of all these people. You have just willed that a Kafir be brought down to a low level, and that a Muslim be brought to a high level!"

The crowd cheered and screamed "Takbir"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!"

The man was humiliated, but he boldly asked his Second question... "What existed before your God?"

The small child thought and thought.

Then he asked the man to count backwards. "Count from 10 backwards."

The man counted..."10, 9 ,8 , 7 , 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,0"

The boy asked, "What comes before 0 ?"

The man: "I don`t know...nothing."

The boy: "Exactly. Nothing was before Allah, for He is eternal and absolute."

The crowd cheered again...."Takbir!"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!!"

The man, now completely frustrated, asked his final question. "In which direction is your Allah facing?"

The boy thought and thought.

He then asked for a candle. A candle was brought to him. The blessed child handed it to the man and asked him to light it.

The man did so and remarked, "What is this supposed to prove?"

The young boy asked, "In which direction is light from the candle going?"

The man responded, "It is going in all directions."

The boy: "You have answered your own question. Allah`s light (noor) goes in all directions. He is everywhere. There is no where that He cannot be found.

"The crowd cheered again...."Takbir!"...."Allah-hu-akbar!!!"

The man was so impressed and so moved by the boy`s knowledge and spirituality, that he embraced Islam and became a student of the young boy.

So ended the debate.

The young boy was one of our leaders and one of the greatest scholars, Imam Abu Hanîfa (Rah)

Islamic Month: Rajab

Month of Rajab
About the Month of Rajab - "Rajab" is the 7th month in the Islamic Calender. The lexical definition of Rajaba is "to respect", which is where the word Rajab has been deprived from.
Events of Rajab:
1) Rasulullah ascended to Heaven on the 27th of Rajab.
2) Hadhrat Bilal Ibn Haritha brought a congregation of four hundred men named Banu Muzeena in the presence of the Rasulullah . They all embraced Islam and became followers of the Rasulullah in the year 5 A.H
3) The battle of Tabook took place in the year 9 A.H. This was the last battle which the Rasulullah participated in.
4) The second Oath of Aqabah took place in Rajab, 12 A.H.
Deaths in Rajab:
1) Imam Abu Hanifa (R.A) passed away on the 15th of Rajab 150 A.H.
2) Imam Shafi'ee (R.A) passed away on the 14th Rajab 204 A.H.
3) Imam Muslim (R.A) passed away on the 24th of Rajab 261 A.H.
4) Imam Nawawee (R.A) passed away on the 14th of Rajab 677 A.H.
